You’ve heard often that Europe is hard soil for the gospel. Academia feels like a fortress. Society says God is irrelevant. And there aren’t (m)any Christians at universities. The whole thing can leave Christian students feeling alone, overwhelmed, and small. But God invites them not to despair, but to join a Spirit-filled adventure. The Spark exists to connect, inspire, and equip students to see revival in this generation.
Joshua is instructed by God to lead the people of Israel further. He also receives God’s promise: “I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses” Joshua 1:3 (NIV). Like Joshua, we may also pray for and in the environment where we want to see more of God’s Kingdom. We therefore follow the example of Jesus too: he did not lock himself in his (prayer) room. He went out in association with his Father.
Praying around your neighborhood, city or village can give your prayers extra inspiration and direction. In addition, fresh air and a little exercise keep you sharp. Praying while walking may be new to you or not done often in your culture or tradition, so you’re encouraged to consider connecting with God in this new way.
WHAT
Inspired by the EveryCampus movement in the US, the leaders of 24-7 Prayer, IFES Europe, and Agape came together in 2020 to pray and imagine together what it would take to ignite prayer for revival and renewal in every university in Europe.
The result of this yearlong prayer-filled conversation is a strategic alliance among three ministries in Europe, with other student organizations keen to join our vision to seek God for revival and renewal by inspiring and equipping prayer in every university in Europe by 2025.
